Dr. Jennifer Tsung
DVM

Dr. Kevin Shimel
DVM
A native of Queens, New York, Dr. Kevin Shimel graduated from Iowa State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1996, and has a BS in Animal Science and Chemistry from ISU as well. Dr. Shimel has a strong interest in Feline Medicine, and spent several years as a “Caterinarian”. He has also devoted part of his career to Emergency Medicine. Having practiced in various settings, Dr. Shimel continues to expand his interests as a well-rounded Veterinarian.
Deciding to become a Veterinarian at an early age, he has a lifelong resume of working with pets, to include Kennel Work, Dog Grooming, Shelter Work, Training and Rescue. As an avid participant in AKC Dog Shows and Field Trials, he has shown Borzoi and other purebred dogs for 38 years, and is an internationally known and AKC approved Dog Show Judge and speaker.
As a believer in staying busy, Dr Shimel has 16 years of experience in the restaurant industry and continues to enjoy cooking at home. Between his undergraduate and graduate degrees, he spent 7 years as a Research Chemist. He is also an accomplished photographer with a history of gallery exhibits and speaking engagements showcasing his world travels and photo journalistic images of life on the planet.

Dr. Christina Carbonell
DVM
Dr. Cristina Carbonell was born and raised in Queens, NY. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and her veterinary degree from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating, she completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Long Island Veterinary Specialists in Plainview, NY. Dr Carbonell has been working in private practice in the NYC area for over 15 years.
Dr. Carbonell is USDA-accredited. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, New York State Veterinary Medical Society and the Veterinary Medical Association of NYC.
During her free time, Dr. Carbonell enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.

Dr. Sarah Turner
DVM
Dr. Turner earned her veterinary degree from the University of Glasgow in 2021. She practiced as a small animal veterinarian in London for four years before returning to the United States. Prior to veterinary school, she completed a master’s degree in public health and conducted research on chronic disease with the CDC. Outside of work, Dr. Turner enjoys traveling, attending Broadway shows, and exploring the city.

Dr. Josh Kolbert
DVM
Dr. Josh Kolbert is the newest member of our team, bringing fresh energy and a strong dedication to patient care. A 2022 graduate of Ross University, with clinical experience at Louisiana State University, he ensures quality care and client education. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, sports, and spending time with his dog, Loki.

Dr. Amrita Valiyaveetil
DVM, MPH Epidemiology & Biostatistics
Dr. Amrita Valiyaveetil was born and raised between Kerala and Mumbai, India. Shortly after high school, she earned her divemaster certification and contributed to building artificial reefs in Thailand, sparking her early interest in conservation. She went on to complete her undergraduate degree at the College of the Atlantic, where she had the opportunity to work with whales and seals while developing a strong foundation in conservation and environmental advocacy. She later earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University, where she gained experience with both small and large animals. During her time at Tufts, she also completed a Master of Public Health. Her work in public health has been wide-ranging, from studying avian influenza in Senegal to conducting veterinary equity research with the Center for Animals and Public Policy at the Tufts Community Clinic. At the core of her interests in veterinary medicine are community medicine and public health. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, surfing, and traveling.

Dr. Mark Landesman
DVM
Dr. Mark Landesman received his undergraduate degree from SUNY at Buffalo, and his veterinary degree from the Université de Liège Veterinary Faculty in Brussels, Belgium. After graduation, he practiced mostly in the humane area, spending several years at the Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital of the ASPCA, North Shore Animal League and Bideawee. Interspersed in his career were several positions in private practice, including emergency medicine as well as being a private practice owner for 12 years.
Dr. Landesman is a member of the New York City Veterinary Medical Association, the New York State Veterinary Medical Society, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. His veterinary areas of special interest include oncology, gastroenterology, surgery, and emergency and critical care.
Dr. Landesman lives in Manhattan with his rescue dog Harper a “Sato Rescue” from Puerto Rico who just loves every person and dog he sees. In his spare time he enjoys jogging, swimming, biking, going to the gym and taking advantage of the wonderful cultural offerings of the big city. In the winter, he is a devoted ski bunny spending his down time at his Upstate Catskills cabin.
